Another Christmas in the books. Every year I promise my self that I'm not going to let the stress of December get to me-and every year I fail. I had a huge melt down on Christmas Eve at 10pm-I almost stayed strong till the very end but failed. Looking back now, we had a LOT of wonderful memories together-and that's what Christmas is all about. I trimmed down on the amount of presents a little and tried my darndest to have my kids focus on Christ-and not what and how many presents they get. I think they were getting it.
Right before his Orchestra Concert.
Cousin's Christmas Recital-just wonderful!
Fuse Recitals.
This was the most exciting thing for me this Christmas. I saved some of my Orangewood money and bought Nutcracker tickets MONTHS ago. I had back to back things this day-but on a Saturday afternoon I asked my girls if they would like a present early-I had them open the most beautiful Nutcracker Ornament and tickets to the matinee in just a few minutes. I even got them new dresses to wear. We got dressed and went, it was so fun to go with my girls-it was just magical. We had great tickets and it even snowed on stage.
William got to open tickets for Star Wars which was also very fun. I insisted by sitting next to him and he had sounds of excitement, surprise, laughter, and wonder the whole movie. I definitely had that Star Wars feeling.
Christmas Eve was spent with Kolstads. Gary and Mindee currently have 11 puppies at their house! It made the whole evening just wonderful. Allison literally had a puppy in her arms for the 5 hours we were there. (We were there 5 hours!)
I don't like running around to different places on Christmas Day-so I talked Dave into seeing a movie again on Christmas. Frozen 2. We had our presents, breakfast, naps-then went to the movies.
I had bought the stuff to make a Christmas train but we didn't get around to it until 8pm on Christmas night. The kids were so excited so I said ok and got the stuff out. As we began to build, the kids began fighting and crying over the train! I yelled at all of them " I'm trying to do something fun together and all you guys are doing is arguing and crying!" Two of them went to their rooms while Holly and I made the train, they later came out saying they were sorry and we were able to have a little fun building it together (Dave had gone to work). I was just cracking up that this episode was the end of a very stressful month.
This is a fun memory! For Christmas I told the girls we could get their ears pierced. They had been asking endless questions about it and had wanted to do it for a while. I had offered it to Allie on many different occasions but she's always been too afraid. This time she said she was ready. Holly never hesitated once! She was ready to go months ago.
Well, I knew Allison would be very nervous so my plan was to go somewhere nice, quite, and have her go first! If she went second I knew she would chicken out. We walked into the store and immediately she started getting panicked and said she didn't want to do it. Holly picked her earrings, hopped in the chair and in 5 minutes was done. Holly almost cried after but stayed strong and did it!
Allison was having a little bit of a freak out so we left. I told her, "Let's walk around the mall for a while and maybe you will change your mind. You wanted to get your ears pierced really bad for a long time." We walked around, ate a Cinnabon, rode the escalators a few times, bought some meat at Hillshire Farms, ect. We came to the point where I said "Ok we either need to go home or get your ears pierced-what do you decide." She said go home so we walked across the mall-about to leave when I asked her one more time. She quickly and bravely said "I want to get my ears pierced!" We went right into the store, the workers remembered us, she hopped in the chair and 5 minutes later-they were pierced. The second it was pierced she had the HUGEST smile on her face! She was SOO proud of herself. It was a moment I never want to forget! She was so happy she had done it. She said to me later "Mom-I have never been that scared in my whole life." What a fun day.
This baby-she does not like anyone but her mother! And this is very offending to me because she is my name sake! Well, I baby sat her so Kasey and Tyler could see Star Wars. She was a little emotional but as soon as Dave and I took her to Costco-she was happy! Smiling, talking, charming the passer bys! So funny, now I know to run errands with her any time I watch her!
This is the Hillshire Farms we bought at the mall for Dave's birthday. We also got him a wood cutting board, and Mom and Dad gave us money in which we bought him fireworks. The man loves his meat.
